Want To Live A Longer And Healthier Life? Move To Idaho.

Jul 19, 2013

If you’re nearing the age of 65, and hoping to live a long, healthy life, Minnesota, Idaho, and Washington are looking a lot better than Texas.

While seniors in Texas can expect less than 13 healthy years of life after the age of 65, seniors in Washington have more than 15. Hawaii seniors can expect the most healthy years after blowing out their 65th birthday candles – 16. The new analysis, done by the National Center for Health Statistics, doesn’t say whether the extra years are the result of hula dancing or flower leis.

Americans healthy life expectancy after 65 is lowest in the South. In Texas, there’s also quite a difference between black and white seniors. While a white Texan has a little more than 12 years of healthy years after 65, blacks in Texas have a little more than ten.
