UT Arlington Receives Record $7.5 Million For Scientific Research

UT Arlington

The University of Texas at Arlington has received the largest philanthropic gift in its history- $7.5 million to install equipment designed for advanced scientific research.

The donation comes from Shimadzu Scientific Instruments, a Japanese firm that manufactures equipment for medical diagnostics, aerospace and industrial analytics.

UTA President James Spaniolo says the new Shimadzu Institute for Research Technologies will help make North Texas “a new hub of scientific discovery.”

Former KERA staffer Shelley Kofler was news director, managing editor and senior reporter. She is an award-winning reporter and television producer who previously served as the Austin bureau chief and legislative reporter for North Texas ABC affiliate WFAA-TV.
