Top Stories: Voters Will Choose Next Dallas ISD School Buses; Pudge Rodriguez Looks Back At Career

The fate of Dallas County Schools will soon be in voters' hands. Friday afternoon, the DCS board voted to call a November election. Voters will decide whether to get rid of the agency that provides bus service to area schools. 

DCS had no choice., earlier this year, state lawmakers approved legislation requiring the agency to hold an election.

  • The Texas Rangers will honor Ivan Rodriguez at tomorrow's game in Arlington. The team will retire his number seven jersey. It's just the latest honor for "Pudge." He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame last month. Pudge sat down with KERA’s Gus Contreras to reflect on his career in Texas. 

  • Photographer Dornith Doherty spent nine years documenting remote seed vaults around the world. She even travelled to a so-called doomsday vault near the North Pole, designed to preserve botanical life in case of environmental disaster.  Her large, ghostly images capture life inside seeds as small as a grain of sand. Her show is on display at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art in Fort Worth. Today in State of the Arts, Anne Bothwell, KERA's Vice President of Arts, learns how Doherty makes her ethereal work.
