Top Stories: Parents, Teachers To Sound Off On Funding Public Schools

The top local stories this morning from KERA News: Parents and teachers this morning will get their first chance to testify before the new Texas Commission on Public School Finance.

The commission was created during last year’s special legislative session. Texas House and Senate education leaders could not agree on how to best address school finance. The commission’s purpose is to study the best ways to reform the system.

  • Regents from the University of Texas System will discuss tuition increases for all eight system campuses. The proposed increases vary: UT Arlington's proposing 5.4 percent more for tuition, while UT Dallas wants a 3 percent increase.
