The top local stories this morning from KERA News: The Obama administration is expected to issue guidance this morning directing every public school in the country to allow transgender students to use restrooms that align with their gender identity. Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick will hold a press conference this morning to talk about the announcement.

He made national headlines this week when he came to Fort Worth and said school superintendent Kent Scribner should resign.

Scribner refused -- and defended his decision to rework the district's rules for transgender students. Patrick called Scribner a "dictator" in our Friday Conversation.

Other stories this morning:

  • The directors of Fort Worth’s three leading art museums will take part in tonight’s State of the Arts conversation series. The public discussion is a first for the directors of the Amon Carter, the Kimbell, and the Modern, but the museums have long shared a cooperative relationship. The history of that working agreement, and what’s at stake in the arts in Fort Worth will be among the topics tonight at the Kimbell Art Museum.
