The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

The White House says the country’s high school graduation rate has reached a new high of 83.2 percent. The graduation rate for the 2014-2015 school year increased across all ethnic groups, as well as for disabled students and students from low-income families.

However, there was still a significant difference between ethnic groups. Asian Americans and whites were at or near a 90 percent graduation rate. Hispanics, African-Americans and Native Americans were around the 70 –to 80 percentile.

Texas boasted an 89 percent graduation rate overall – higher than the national average, and up three percent from the 2010 – 2011 school year.
