KERA's "Think" broadcasts all week from NPR headquarters in Washington. Guests include Sen. John Cornyn, NPR’s Nina Totenberg and best-selling author Andrew Solomon.
Over the weekend, the "Think" production team asked visitors outside the Capitol about everything from national politics to national parks. They also asked people the first thing they thought of when they heard the word “Texas.”

“Home. Because I’m originally from Texas.”
“Ted Cruz.”
“Wendy Davis.”
“Plastic surgery. I used to live in Texas and I’m telling you that whole stereotype is all completely true.”
“Oil.”
“Texas? Oh my God. Steakhouse. Yeah.”
“Dust and heat.”
“Barbecue.”
“People have a lot of guns there. That’s what I know about Texas.”
“You have some beautiful west country out there. Rockies out there and stuff. I’ve driven through that area. It’s pretty nice.”
“Big state. Conservative values. I’m from Alabama so I get it.”
“Dallas Cowboys – unfortunately.”
