Texas Still Leads With Uninsured
By Bill Zeeble, KERA News
Dallas, TX –
Once again, a government report shows Texas leads the nation among big states with the most uninsured. Also, more people nationwide are without insurance today than a decade ago. KERA's Bill Zeeble has more.
The National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that among the nation's 20 largest states, nearly 1 in 4 Texans lacks health insurance. Florida is nearly as bad, whereas Massachusetts reports just 3 percent have no health insurance. The national average finds almost one person in 5 lacks insurance.
More children are also now insured nationwide than previously recorded. National statistics also show that over the last 3 decades, the number of uninsured adults has steadily grown.
