A strong cold front will move into North Texas during the day Saturday forcing temperatures to plummet approximately 50 degrees by the evening, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.
Friday: warm and windy
Friday's forecast calls for strong south winds and highs in the low-to-mid 70s, which is about 10 to 20 degrees higher than normal, according to the weather service. There’s also a chance for light rain in the east and southeast part of the region.

Saturday: Major temperature drop
On Saturday, prepare for a drastic change. Highs will be in the 60s and 70s but an arctic front will result in frigid temperatures in the teens and 20s that night. Factor in north winds blowing 15-25 miles per hour with those low temperatures and wind chills will likely be in the single digits and near zero by Sunday morning.
There’s also light snow possible in the region north of Interstate 20 Saturday night, but the precipitation is predicted to be short-lived with no accumulation, according to the weather service.

Take precautions
Be sure to take the same precautions as you did for last week’s cold front. The weather service recommends protecting your pipes by letting faucets drip and bringing in fragile plants and animals inside. And check on your neighbors, too.
