Roads around Dallas-Fort Worth are "generally clear," but drivers should still watch out for icy spots in east and southeast Dallas, KXAS-TV meteorologist Brian James says.
While North Texas was largely spared the harsh road conditions predicted Monday, folks should heed the warnings of bitter cold temperatures as they walk out the door Tuesday.
The Texas Department of Transportation pre-treated roads in Dallas and Fort Worth. TxDOT executive director James Bass said on Twitter that the treatment helps for removal later, but it can't guarantee that there will be no snow or ice on the roads.
Preventive winter road treatments are used to prevent the formation or development of bonded snow and ice for easy removal. They work by lowering, NOT eliminating, the freezing point of water. They can not guarantee there will be no ice and snow on the road!#BeSafeDriveSmart pic.twitter.com/1HLFd59OoC
