The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom: Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry will formally announce his White House run today in Addison. This comes after an unsuccessful campaign four years ago.

Also, the 5-cent bag fee in Dallas will be no more starting Monday. Courtney Collins has a recap of yesterday’s city council meeting discussing the ordinance.

We’ll also hear from a North Texas teenager who, despite an unstable home life and dropping out of school, will graduate this summer.

And finally, Mark Cuban shares stories from the set of the Entourage movie, where he plays himself.

You can listen to North Texas stories weekdays at 8:20 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.

Former KERA staffer Krystina Martinez was an assistant producer. She produced local content for Morning Edition and KERANews.org. She also produced The Friday Conversation, a weekly series of conversations with North Texas newsmakers. Krystina was also the backup newscaster for the Texas Standard.
