A Texas prison transport bus skidded off I-20 early Wednesday morning and struck a Union Pacific train west of Odessa.

The top local stories this evening from the KERA Newsroom: A prison bus crash on an icy patch of West Texas highway killed at least 10 people earlier today. Tom Michael of Marfa Public Radio has an update on the incident. Also, there's research on how poverty can change a kid's brain. Jacquelyn Gamino of the UT Dallas Center for Brain Health explains how the effects can be reversed.
