New Dallas Trustees Seated Tonight

By Bill Zeeble, KERA News

Dallas, TX –

The two Dallas Independent School District trustee candidates who won their seats earlier this month get sworn in at tonight's regular School Board meeting.

After last week's runoff of the special election, Bruce Parrott defeated District Three incumbent Leigh Ann Ellis, and Bernadette Nutall beat Sally Cain in District Nine.

Both say their top priority will be to scrutinize the district's at-times out-of-control budget. Hundreds of teachers and staffers were laid off because of last year's deficit.

Board members will then elect a president. No trustee has publicly pursued the position now held by Adam Medrano.
