Dallas, TX –

The Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge is set to open for traffic Saturday. KERA's BJ Austin says dedication ceremonies were held this morning in the "middle" of the bridge.

Breakaway champagne bottles filled with confetti christened the Lewisville Lake Toll Bridge. It will proved an east-west route across the lake from Little Elm to Lake Dallas with an improved corridor that links the Dallas North Tollway and I-35.

For University of North Texas graduate student Nicole Matous, the bridge is going to cut as much as half an hour off her commute to classes.

Matous: Before, I would have to drive down south, thru The Colony, and across 121 and back over the bridge. And this way, it keeps me from having to backtrack, or trying to drive all the way north to 380. Going to UNT, it's overkill, it's going too far north.

Denton Mayor Mark Burroughs says this new route is going to help save time and traffic headaches for a lot of people. The bridge opens to traffic Saturday afternoon.
