Five Dallas police officers were killed and nine others were injured in a sniper attack following a peaceful protest July 7 in downtown Dallas. Two civilians were injured as well.
In light of the attack, here are some ways to help those affected.
Assist the Officer
To make a donation to help injured and deceased Dallas police officers, visit atodallas.org.
The Dallas division of RBC Wealth Management announced a $10,000 donation to the Assist the Officer foundation in Dallas to support the families of the police officers who died, according to a press release.
Line of Duty Fund
The Dallas Foundation established a fund to support Dallas Police Department and DART officers affected by Thursday’s shooting.You can make a donation here.
A statement from The Dallas Foundation:
“Our hearts are saddened by the loss of five Dallas police officers and the additional six injured during last night’s peaceful protests in Downtown Dallas. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who were lost, and to the Dallas Police Department and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) communities."
CrowdRise drive
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick launched an online fundraising drive for the families of the police officers killed in the ambush Thursday. Gov. Greg Abbott and his wife kicked off the drive with a $5,000 donation. Any amount will be accepted. Donate to the drive here.
Recovery Fund For Dallas
Communities Foundation of Texas' Recovery Fund for Dallas "will contribute to medium to long term recovery efforts and community needs," the Communities Foundation says. "This fund will identify and support opportunities that address the needs of the larger community, such as efforts to repair the social fabric of our city through dialogue and addressing issues such as racial disparities, mental health-related education" and others. Dallas Strong BBQ
North Dallas Chamber of Commerce is hosting a barbecue and blood drive from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, July 15 at Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church. A plate of food is a $25 donation to Assist The Officer. To donate blood, you'll need to make an appointment through Carter BloodCare beforehand.

Many Dallas bars and restaurants are offering free food or raising money for Dallas police. Here's a running list from Dallas Observer.

Several blocks of in downtown Dallas were closed following the shooting, and employees working in that area couldn't access their offices. The following co-working spaces offered open desk seating, conference rooms, free WiFi and coffee in the days after the shooting.

Run For The Blue Dallas
Run For The Blue Dallas was a 5K and 1 mile run/walk held July 28 at Trinity Groves. Race entries are free, but participants will have the opportunity to make a donation, 100 percent of which will go to the families of the five slain officers. Chip timing will cost $5 and t-shirts, $20. Register here.
