Documentary Explores Complex Roles Of Aging Parent, Disabled Adult Child

PBS Independent Lens
4.6 million Americans live with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and 75 percent of them live at home. 'Mimi and Dona' is an intimate look at the hardest decision a caregiver can make.

Mimi is 92, but it's her 64-year-old daughter who must leave their suburban Dallas home for an assisted living facility. Sophie Sartain's  documentary "Mimi and Dona" airs on KERA TV at 10:30 p.m.

Sartain handles the fragile bond between mother and daughter with the tenderness of a family member - she is related to the pair. Find out more via PBS' Independent Lens.
