DISD Trustee Says He Won't Seek Re-Election

Dallas, TX –

After a dozen years on the Dallas School Board, Trustee Ron Price says he will not run again. He says he'll spend more time with his family. KERA's Bill Zeeble has more

Price offered a long list of gains by the Dallas Independent School District during his tenure; more and better rated schools, improved academic performance, higher teacher pay and passage of two huge bond packages. But he was also a trustee during several financial scandals, massive layoffs, a cheating investigation, and a one-year trustee term extension that was ruled improper.

Price offered this advice for district 9 hopefuls.

Price: If it's not in your heart to help children but it's in your heart to be popular, don't run. If it's not in your heart to put children first second and last, don't run. This is about helping children not helping yourself. And don't use the children for political gain.

Price says he'll consult with advisors and teacher organizations before endorsing a candidate. He says he will continue to serve his 4 year term on the National Caucus of Black School Board Members.
