A statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee at Lee Park (now Oak Lawn Park) in Turtle Creek before it was removed on Sept. 15.

The Dallas Park Board voted Friday to temporarily revert Lee Park back to its original name: Oak Lawn Park.

That was the official name until a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee was installed in 1936. The Park Board's unanimous vote comes about a week after the Lee statue was removed from the park.

After the deadly white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia last month, Mayor Mike Rawlings formed a task force to decide what to do with Confederate symbols in Dallas.

The group meets again Friday afternoon.

The task force held its fourth public meeting on the issue on Tuesday. It will report findings to the Cultural Affairs Commission by Oct. 12.

The commission will then make a final presentation to the Dallas City Council on Nov. 1. The council could act on Nov. 8.
