Dallas – Dallas City Council members are considering a three-year "electricity" purchase that includes 750 thousand dollars for green energy.

Dallas is the second highest renewable energy user in the nation at 40%.

But, Council member Ann Margolin wants to know if Dallas air is cleaner because of more expensive green energy and by how much.

Margolin: I want to take it out of the realm of this is really great because I think that is important. But I also want to know what does it really mean to us in terms of attainment. Quantify it.

The Dallas-Fort Worth area has failed to meet federal clean air levels, and faces stricter standards, soon.

Council member Vonceil Jones Hill warned that now is NOT the time to pull back on green energy - even if economic times are tough.

A full-council vote is expected soon.
