U.S. Senate Candidate Ted Cruz’s income increased almost six-fold between 2006 and 2010 according tax returns Cruz released Friday.
While serving as the state’s solicitor general in 2006 Cruz reported adjusted gross income of $347,716 and paid $78,086 in taxes, a rate of about 22%.
As a private attorney in 2010 Cruz reported adjusted gross income of $2,040,840 and paid $674,703 in taxes, a rate of about 33%.
Records indicate that during those five years Cruz contributed just over $44,000 to charity, or less than one percent of income. The charities were not identified.
GOP Senate candidates Craig James and David Dewhurst have also released tax records. Former Dallas Mayor Tom Leppert has not released his returns.
