The musical lineup for the 2014 NCAA March Madness Music Festival in Dallas was announced today – and it includes some top-notch groups.
How about Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band? The Killers? Tim McGraw? Jason Aldean?
They’ll be here in April. And they’ll be performing – for free – at what’s called Reunion Park or the site of the former Reunion Arena.
It starts April 4, a Friday, with Aldean at the AT&T Block party. McGraw and the Killers perform April 5 at the Coke Zero Countdown Concert. Then, get ready for the closing act: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on April 6 at the Capital One JamFest.
It might be free, but expect tons of people.
To prepare for Bruce, we offer the following:
- In January, Ann Powers of NPR Music did an hourlong interview with Springsteen. She writes: “Springsteen is aware that he lives among the elite. Yet as a musician, he's still a skilled worker — maybe more so than ever. Our conversation ended with talk of plans, plans, plans: to maintain a steady stream of new releases; to use the Internet for archival and other purposes, and and to keep the E Street Band on the road, if not forever, for a good long time.”
- Here’s video of Springsteen performing “Gov. Christie Traffic Jam” with Jimmy Fallon:
- Back in 2010, Fresh Air broadcast an interview in which Ed Norton talks with Springsteen. But many of the songs Springsteen wrote for the Darkness on the Edge of Town album were never released. "Darkness on the Edge of Town came out of a huge body of work that had tons of very happy songs," Springsteen told actor Norton at the Toronto International Film Festival. "It was all music that we recorded, we wrote and made a very distinct decision to not use."
