Both sides have rested in the trial of a driver blamed for an alcohol-related crash during last year's South By Southwest festival that claimed four lives.
Rashad Owens of Killeen did not testify before the defense rested Thursday without calling any witnesses in Austin. Prosecutors rested earlier.
Owens faces capital murder and murder counts over the March 2014 accident in which a car plowed into a downtown Austin crowd. More than 20 people were hurt. Prosecutors say Owens was intoxicated and fled to avoid a traffic stop.
Closing arguments are Friday. If convicted, the 23-year-old Owens could face life in prison without parole. Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty.
Owens still awaits trial on 24 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon over people injured in the crash.
