Dallas, TX –
Troubled Blockbuster, headquartered in Dallas, could close nearly a thousand rental stores to better face competition. KERA's Bill Zeeble has more.
Blockbuster filed papers with the SEC showing it could close up to 960 stores over the next year or so. It said nearly 20 percent of its stores don't turn a profit. The company didn't say where the closures might occur.
Blockbuster also said it planned to add thousands more kiosks to directly compete with Redbox. Blockbuster has also struggled to deal with Netflix, that mostly rents movies by mail.
