Interim City Manager Apologizes, Saying He 'Made A Mistake' In Uber Car Matter
Interim City Manager A.C. Gonzalez sent a memo today to the Dallas mayor and City Council in which he admitted he "made a mistake" when handling the Uber car service ordinance over the summer -- a matter that has generated plenty of controversy, The Dallas Morning News reports.
“Part of having solid character and integrity is admitting mistakes,” Gonzalez wrote in the memo. “Even with 30 years of municipal experience (14 years in Dallas), I made a mistake. Please accept my apology. I regret the approach I took as I tried to address the situation expeditiously. I regret not bringing the issue before the Council earlier in the process and getting your input. I recognize I made a mistake, and I have learned valuable lessons.”
