State Teams With HUD To Fight Foreclosures

Dallas, TX – The state just launched a program with the federal Housing and Urban Development office to help troubled homeowners avoid foreclosures.

HUD Secretary Alphonso Jackson was in Dallas Monday urging those facing foreclosure to call a new state hotline at the new Texas Foreclosure Prevention Task Force.

Southwest Airlines Update

Dallas, TX –

Southwest has completed yesterday's reinspection of 38 planes that were grounded following questions about whether the original checks had been done properly. KERA's Shelly Kofler Reports

Most of the planes are flying again. But the airlines Christi Day says inspectors turned four over to maintenance after they found hairline cracks.

Shaw Funerals

Dallas, TX –

Funeral services for Rufus Shaw and his wife, Lynn Flynt Shaw will be held next Tuesday. Dallas police the prominent couple died following a suicide pact.

Cong. Johnson Believes FAA "Negligent"

Dallas Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson met Wednesday afternoon with Southwest Airlines executives. She says she left the meeting believing the Federal Aviation Administration bears some responsibility for Southwest planes flying without required inspections.

Southwest Airlines Planes Grounded

Southwest Airlines has grounded 44 planes to reinspect for possible structural damage. The decision comes in the midst of an investigation into the airline's flying of planes that hadn't received critical safety inspections.

Review: Mudbone

Dallas, TX – Author Hillary Jordan spent her childhood in Dallas and in Oklahoma, but her debut novel, called Mudbound, is set on a Mississippi cotton farm in 1946. This isn't all that big a jump. Dallas may play up its cowboy myths, but not so long ago, this city was surrounded by cotton fields. Cotton farming built Dallas, it built the Cotton Bowl.
