Most big cities have a problem with stray dogs. In Dallas, it’s more like a crisis.

In early May, dogs mauled a homeless woman, biting her more than 100 times. A week later, she died. Now, neighbors are furious and city officials are scrambling to come up with an answer.

Dallas residents will get another chance to offer their ideas on Fair Park’s future at a special Dallas City Council meeting Feb. 8. For decades, people have talked about how to revitalize Fair Park and make the 277-acre fairground a year-round destination, but getting everyone on board has been the sticking point.

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings responded Tuesday to federal housing officials who say the city is violating civil rights laws with its affordable housing practices. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development alleges that the city has steered most of its housing for low-income residents to southern Dallas.

The city of Dallas and AT&T are pairing up to build a golf course near Loop 12 and I-45, the Dallas Morning News reports. Their goal: A PGA-quality course that might just take over the Byron Nelson Championship, which has been played in Las Colinas for nearly 30 years.
