It’s state softball playoff season, and some girls are gearing up with face masks.

Softball is one of the safest high school sports in Texas. But serious injuries do happen – especially at positions like third base or pitcher, where screaming line drives can do major damage. At least one North Texas school district, Richardson, is requiring all girls who play third to wear face masks in the field.

Jon Kitna, who is coming out of retirement to be the team's emergency quarterback on Sunday, plans to donate his $53,000 paycheck from the game to the Tacoma, Wash., high school where he now teaches math and coaches football.

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has been sidelined for the rest of the season due to a back injury, ESPN is reporting.

The Cowboys, with a 8-7 record, defeated Washington 24-23 Sunday. The Cowboys host the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday night.
