Thanksgiving never tasted like this. A newly concocted delicacy called Fried Thanksgiving Dinner won "most creative" honors today at the State Fair of Texas' annual fried food-off. And in a shocking upset, Fried Nutella was shut out of the winners' circle.

Seniors in Texas are among the worst off in a new report ranking states by level of food security. While hunger is a problem usually associated with extreme poverty and children, the reality is we’ve got millions of seniors in the U.S. who are going hungry.

The Dallas school district’s free summer meals program starts today.

The summer food service program is set up to feed nutritious meals to all Dallas youth 18 and younger through much of the summer, regardless of family income. That’s because, as the district says, hunger doesn’t take a summer break. To eat, just show up.

The Food and Drug Administration requires makers of most prepared foods to list nutritional information on the package. In our KERA Health Checkup, Sam Baker talked to a registered dietician with U.T. Southwestern Medical Center about how to make sense of what's on the label. Lona Sandon begins with Percentages of Daily Value.

KERA's Courtney Collins takes us to a kitchen in Garland where Koni Ramo Kaiwi is trying to preserve one of her holiday traditions. Bunuelos have long been on the holiday menu in many Latino homes. Koni wants to make sure her grandchildren can recreate their magic for holidays to come.

Armed with rolling pins and a mission Koni Ramos Kaiwi hands each of her three grandchildren a kitchen tool and a ball of sweet, homemade dough.

She then instructs the children to roll the dough flat and thin, until it's about the size of a tortilla.
