It’s been a bumpy week for Dallas based southwest Airlines. This week, a computer outage took down its website, forcing 1,300 flight cancellations, and stranding passengers and crews. Then, despite a record second quarter profit, its stock price fell. Today, hundreds of union members picketed at Love Field over stalled contract talks.

A little travel tech could help you get to your turkey on time.

Australian satellite images found objects that are possibly connected to the Malaysia Airlines flight that went missing with 239 people on board March 8. "New and credible information has come to light in relation to the search," Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott told his Parliament on Thursday.

"The Australian Maritime Safety Authority has received information based on satellite imagery of objects possibly related to the search," Abbott said. "Following specialist analysis of this satellite imagery, two possible objects related to the search have been identified."

The North Texas weekend rain never turned to ice and sleet as predicted. Still, 480 flights were canceled out of D/FW International Airport Sunday and Monday in anticipation of the winter storm. Now, it’s mostly back to normal. As the remaining stranded passengers get on their way, the airport’s also gearing up for the year’s busiest travel season.

North Texas travelers now have fewer flights to choose from out of DFW. American Airlines has cut up to two percent of its flights following an increase in delays and cancellations.

The Texas unemployment rate has risen slightly to 7 percent in June but remains well below the 8.2 percent national jobless rate.
