A Dallas County grand jury today did not indict County Commissioner John Wiley Price or former Dallas council member Dwaine Caraway in their February fight at a gospel radio station.

The Dallas City Council Wednesday morning voted 8-6 to approve a partial ban on plastic bags – the kind you see flying around on freeways and in trees.

An East Texas legislator wants Attorney General Greg Abbott to determine whether it's legal for cities to enforce plastic bag bans. Nine Texas cities have passed ordinances that prohibit or limit the use of plastic bags by retailers. Dallas plans to consider a ban later this month.

Will Dallas Be The Next City to Ban Plastic or Paper Bags?

Communities across the United States have banned plastic and paper bags, the kind that you get at grocery stores and take-out spots. But Dallas hasn’t been able to decide, at least not since council member Dwaine Caraway proposed a ban a year ago.

Caraway wasn’t always a green-living kind of a guy.   

“I was the last one to get on board with recycling,” Caraway said. “In fact, recycling in this city was somewhat being held up because I was not on board. But once through education, you learn, and you see yourself, and you say, 'Hey, this is the right thing to do.'”
