Top Stories: Texas Senate Committee Hears Controversial Bathroom Bill

The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

A Texas Senate committee this morning will hear testimony on the controversial bathroom bill.

During the regular legislative session, the House and the Senate couldn't come to a compromise over the bill, which would regulate transgender public restroom use. The bathroom bill's a priority for Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, but House Speaker Joe Straus opposes it.

Just yesterday, the National Episcopal Church urged Straus to continue opposing the bill. A slew of tech companies, business and tourism groups have also voiced opposition.
