Top Stories: Strong Winds And Hail Close Out March; How Movies Can Damage The Ears

The top local stories this morning from KERA News: The National Weather Service says last night’s severe storms brought quarter to baseball-sized hail in parts of North Texas. There were also reports of strong winds between 60 and 70 miles per hour.

Aside from some rain tomorrow, no severe weather’s expected for the weekend. Today should be mostly clear.

  • A former Baylor University student who was raped by a football player has filed a lawsuit against the school. According to the Dallas Morning News, the lawsuit alleges Baylor didn’t take steps to protect the student even though school officials knew Tevin Elliott had assaulted at least one other woman. He was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2014 for sexually assaulting the student.
  • The dispute between Fort Worth Symphony musicians and management has ramped up. Officials with the union representing musicians said management last Friday deactivated keycard access to Bass Hall and another area where instruments and personal property are kept. The move came a day after musicians conducted a sit-in at symphony offices to protest pay cuts and the cancellation of future contract bargaining sessions.
