The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News: More public and charter schools met state standards this past year according to new ratings out today from the Texas Education Agency.  In North Texas, not all districts saw better numbers.

Other stories this afternoon:

  • Remember the heavy rains that flooded parts of the state last spring? After those floods, the Texas Wing Civil Air Patrol took overhead pictures. They showed discolored areas of liquid in and around sites used for oil and gas extraction.
  • Dallas police officers have been leaving the department in droves in recent years – most of them going to other North Texas departments. They’re heading out mainly because the pay is better elsewhere. The proposed city budget calls for pay raises, but some fear that’s not going to be enough to keep them in Dallas.

You can listen to North Texas stories weekdays at 8:22 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.
