Top Stories: President Trump Promises John Cornyn Extra Harvey Aid For Texas

According to Texas Sen. John Cornyn, President Trump has committed to take up the governor's request next month for almost $19 billion in Hurricane Harvey aid.

Cornyn told reporters Thursday he made a direct appeal to Trump and budget director Mick Mulvaney for additional funds for Texas. However, Trump “strongly indicated his preference” for a separate bill that will include specific Texas funds. An amount was not specified.
