Top Stories: Keeping Bats Safe From Wind Turbines; Poll Shows Texans Opinions Split By Politics

The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News: Texas may be known for oil, but it is also the nation’s largest producer of wind energy. While renewable energy is generally a good thing for most people, it’s not great for bats. 

Those towering wind turbines that harness the wind’s power kill a lot of bats every year. Now, research in Fort Worth that aims to help bats and turbines co-exist.

There’s a lot of new poll data out this week about the attitudes of Texas voters. The polls by the University of Texas and the Texas Politics Project zero in on heated topics - from the presidential race to immigration.
