Top Stories: Irving Says Goodbye To The Byron Nelson; What Experts Say About Affordable Housing

The Byron Nelson golf tournament starts Thursday and Irving is hosting it one last time. After 35 years, the event is moving from the Four Seasons resort in Las Colinas to south Dallas – at the new Trinity Forest golf club.

As Gus Contreras reports, the city which once hosted the Dallas Cowboys is moving away from its sports identity.

  • In Dallas, the numbers on affordable housing are shocking. There are only 19 affordable homes for every 100 low-income families who need them. That’s playing out in West Dallas — as we’ve been exploring in the series One Crisis Away: No Place To Go. Fancy new apartment buildings are popping up, but for long-term residents about to lose their homes, there’s nothing they can afford to rent. KERA’s Courtney Collins takes a look at what could solve — or at least dent— the affordable housing crisis.
