Top Stories: How Children Of Color Fare In Texas; Addressing College Hunger

The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

Black and Hispanic children face tougher barriers to success in Texas than other racial and ethnic groups, according to a new report from the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

The 2017 Race for Results report measures kids' progress on health and economic and educational milestones such as proficiency in math and reading and finishing high school on time.

Nationwide, Texas ranked ninth for Asian-American children meeting milestones. The state ranked at No. 16 for African-American children, 20th for white children and 33rd for Latino children.
