Top Stories: Harvey Evacuees Head To North Texas; Ice Cube's Big 3 Basketball League

Harvey evacuees have been making their way to North Texas. More than 500 spent last night at three Dallas city shelters.

City officials are working to open what they're calling a "mega-shelter" by tomorrow at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center downtown. KERA's Stella Chavez stopped by as workers were getting ready.

  • Meteorologists are predicting Tropical Storm Harvey could remain intact through the weekend. On Think, Krys Boyd talked with Greg Carbin, branch chief of forecast operations with the National Weather Service. He says severe storms like Harvey are becoming more common. 
  • Three-on-three basketball: It’s a game played on asphalt courts across America. Recently, rapper Ice Cube decided it was time for the game to be played on a bigger stage. So he started Big3 Basketball – a traveling league of eight teams that features retired NBA players
