Top Stories: Early Voting Ends Tonight; Reconnecting Puerto Rico After Maria

The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

Polls close tonight at 7 p.m. for early voting in the Texas primary elections.

Early voting numbers for both political parties are up in the 15 largest counties, but Democrats are outpacing Republicans by about 18,000 votes. According to Rice University political science professor Mark Jones, Texas Democrats are attracting new voters at a rate of two to three times of Republicans during this election cycle.

  • Though this is a midterm election year - there's already attention on the 2020 presidential race. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told KERA he hasn't ruled out a run for president.
