Top Stories: Dallas District Attorney Susan Hawk Seeks Treatment; LGBT Hate Crimes In Texas

The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News: Dallas County District Attorney Susan Hawk is once again seeking treatment for depression. In a statement Monday afternoon, she said she’s entering a facility in Arizona that specializes in mood disorders.

Last week’s shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando put homophobic violence in the spotlight. On a regular basis, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people face hate crimes. These incidents are not always deadly, but cause injuries – both physical and emotional. 

KERA’s Christopher Connelly has been looking into what Texas hate crime statistics about anti-LGBT violence in the Lone Star state.
