The Dallas County Republican Party elected businessman Phillip Huffines as its new chairman last night, the second in three months. Huffines is the twin brother of state Sen. Don Huffines.
This election comes after tea party activist Mark Montgomery stepped down after less than two months on the job. Montgomery left the party virtually broke. At the time of his resignation, the party had only $180 dollars in the bank.

- Lawyers for Granbury-based Revolver Brewing and two other craft brewers were in court yesterday to argue against a state law they say hinders the ability for brewers to grow their businesses.
- The Dallas school district announced this summer it will eliminate one-third of its annual assessments. Though administrators say it’ll get teachers to focus more on teaching, Bill Zeeble reports the testing debate continues.
