More than 5,000 delegates are attending the Texas Republican Party Convention in Fort Worth.

In meeting rooms and hallways at the Texas Republican Party Convention, delegates Friday hotly argued over whether a guest worker program should remain in their party platform. Gay Republicans fought to eliminate a plank that suggested reparative therapy be available for those who want to escape their gay "lifestyle."

Delegates will openly debate and pass the party platform Saturday before ending their three-day convention in Fort Worth.

State Sen. Dan Patrick of Houston, the Republican nominee for lieutenant governor, is also scheduled to address the crowd.
