When Donald Trump released campaign finance numbers on Monday revealing he had just $1.3 million in the bank at the end of May, collective jaws dropped. His presumptive opponent in the general presidential election, Hillary Clinton, reported having $42 million cash on hand.
But while Trump's numbers are certainly low for a presidential candidate, they'd even be disappointing for some Texas candidates: 14 current Texas elected officials, three former or outgoing officials, and even one losing candidate have more money in their campaign coffers than Trump.
Trump isn't worried. In a statement following the release of his numbers, he said his campaign is "leaner and more efficient, like the government should be."
