Rain In Forecast All Week; Flash Flood Watch In Effect For North Texas Through Thursday

National Weather Service
A flash flood watch is in effect for North Texas through Thursday.

Storms are hitting North Texas Tuesday afternoon – and heavy rain is in the forecast all week.

The National Weather Service says North Texas could see 2 to 4 inches of rain throughout the week, with some areas seeing more than 5 inches.

Some of the storms could be severe, but forecasters are mostly concerned about potential flooding.

A flash flood watch is in effect for most of North Texas through Thursday morning.

Flash flood warnings were in effect Tuesday afternoon for counties to the south of Dallas-Fort Worth, including Hood County, Somervell County and Johnson County.

Flood warnings were also in place in several areas close to the Trinity River including the West Fork Trinity River near Boyd, affecting Wise County, and the Trinity River at Trinidad affecting Henderson and Navarro Counties.

Earlier Tuesday afternoon, the National Weather Service reported parts of the Trinity River in Dallas are about 2 feet above flood stage, meaning minor flooding was expected.

Meanwhile, authorities in central Texas found two more bodies along flooded streams, bringing the death toll from recent flooding throughout the state to six.

Torrential rains caused heavy flash flooding over the last few days, and led to numerous evacuations in southeast Texas, including two prisons.
