STEPHENVILLE-- Prosecutors have rested their case in the Texas trial of a former Marine accused of killing "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle and another man.
The Dallas Morning News reports prosecutors rested Tuesday in the trial of 27-year-old Eddie Ray Routh. He's accused of killing the former Navy SEAL and Kyle's friend Chad Littlefield at a shooting range in February 2013.
The trial has drawn intense interest, partly because of an Oscar-nominated film based on Kyle's memoir.
Before resting, prosecutors played a recorded phone call between Routh and a reporter from The New Yorker magazine. Routh says, "I had to take care of business. I took care of business, and then I got in the truck and left.
Routh, whose attorneys are mounting an insanity defense, has pleaded not guilty.
