Parents Want New School District In East Dallas

An East Dallas group of residents is talking about creating an independent school district for the White Rock Lake area. They say the Dallas school district is too big and mismanaged. Former State Rep. Allen Vaught created a Facebook page, which now has more than 2,500 likes.

Some parents say they support the idea, while others would like more information. Branching off from Dallas ISD won’t be easy. A number of steps are involved, including petitioning the county to put it on a ballot and getting at least 25 percent of voters to show up at the polls.
