Dallas, TX – Record setting deportations of illegal immigrants put Irving in the national spotlight in the past year, and ordinances aimed at illegal immigration put a focus on Farmers Branch. Candidates with opposing views on these issues are running for mayor and council. Dallas County's Election's Administrator Bruce Sherbet says that will prompt a high turnout.

Bruce Sherbet: "There's stiff competition going on up there, with a lot of campaigning. Voters take note of that. In areas of stiff competition the interest is still high."

For most other communities though, Sherbet expects a lower turnout, about 8 percent on average. KERA will cover the elections Sunday, with regional results at KERA.org. Bill Zeeble KERA news.
