From The Newsroom: #IStandWithAhmed Is Trending On Twitter For North Texas Teen

The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom: A Muslim teen was arrested Monday for bringing in a homemade clock to his Irving high school, and the incident is gaining national attention.

Ahmed Mohamed enjoys tinkering with electronics and brought the clock to show his teacher. Police however, said it could be mistaken for a fake explosive. Mohamed wasn’t charged for the incident, but was suspended from school for three days.

Also, the proposed park along the Trinity River is getting a financial boost to the tune of $1 million in private money. Kat Chow looks into why some people aren’t singing praises.

And finally, a new medical school is in the works in Fort Worth, but some are doubtful it will help the state’s doctor shortage.
