The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom:

The 120th annual Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo kicks off today. Though many Stock Show favorites return, some changes include increased prices for rodeo tickets and parking, and the prohibition of Confederate battle flag displays. Organizers said they changed the rules after several complaints in the past.

Organizers are expecting more than 1 million visitors again this year. Saturday's annual Stock Show All Western Parade kicks off at 11 a.m. in downtown Fort Worth.

The Stock Show runs through Feb. 6 at the Will Rogers Memorial Complex.

Other stories this morning:

  • Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings gave a wide-ranging interview to Bloomberg yesterday on local and national issues. He touted the local economy for staying strong despite falling oil prices.
  • Last week, we heard from C.J. Grisham, the head of Open Carry Texas. The Friday Conversation on guns continues with Andrea Brauer, executive director of Texas Gun Sense.
