From The Newsroom: Dallas Man Bumped Off Flight; Holiday Spending Offers A Lifeline

The top local stories this evening from the KERA Newsroom: Bobby Abtahi, who’s a member of the Dallas Plan Commission, was bumped from a Virgin America flight in New York on Monday because, as he put it on Twitter, the “captain/crew didn't feel comfortable with me on flight.”

Attorney General Ken Paxton appeared Tuesday in a McKinney courtroom – but not as the accuser. He’s facing three felony counts, and is charged with defrauding wealthy investors in a tech startup. Now, a Collin County judge will determine whether any of Paxton’s indictments should be thrown out.  

Most families worry about spending too much on gifts or travel. For some small family businesses, especially those that have had a tough year financially, the holidays can be a lifeline.

Quincy and Sheri Brown’s catering operation is one of them. As KERA reports, the couple’s depending on this holiday season to keep their business afloat. And they don’t have a Plan B.
